Serbia's head coach Svetislav Pesic has announced that FC Bayern Munich forward Vladimir Lucic will not play for the team during the tournament.

"[Aleksa] Avramovic suffered an injury but he hopes to be able to play at the World Cup," he told SportKlub Srbija. "Lucic will definitely not be part of the team, and there is no need to talk about how much he means to us."

Lucic suffered a left-hand injury during the game against Bamberg in April. He planned to return to the court this season but it was decided that surgery would be necessary.

With Lucic out of the picture, FC Barcelona's Nikola Kalinic is expected to take on an increased role.

"As far as the team's composition is concerned, there will be no major changes compared to the team that played at the EuroBasket," he said.

Serbia got drawn into Group B together with South Sudan, China, and Puerto Rico, and will play in the capital city of the Philippines, Manila.
