According to Jake Fischer from Yahoo Sports, the G-League will start hosting an international draft where overseas prospects aged 18 to 21 will be able to join the teams in the competition.
The first such draft will be held virtually on June 28th this upcoming summer. The draft order will be randomly determined on June 19th.
Previously, prospects who joined G-League teams would get automatically enrolled in the following year's draft. This rule has been changed. Starting next year, the teams will now hold G-League rights to the players for two seasons.
After getting selected, the players will have until July 7th to opt out of the deal.
The change has been implemented in the new Collective Bargaining Agreement the NBA and the NBPA signed earlier this season.
