Anthony Davis had to leave the game early due to a head injury.
With under 8 minutes remaining in the game, D'Angelo Russell was driving to the basket while being guarded by Gary Payton II. After the shot attempt, Davis was battling for a rebound with Kevon Looney. As the two players were looking to get the ball, Looney inadvertently elbowed Davis.
After the episode, the Lakers star center remained on the offensive side of the court, grabbing his head in pain. He was substituted out after the following possession. The team later announced that he would not return to the game.
According to Chris Haynes from ESPN, Davis was later escorted in a wheelchair for further evaluation. The initial diagnosis says that the player has avoided a concussion, Haynes writes.
Before exiting the game, Davis had 23 points on 10-for-18 shooting and 9 rebounds in his account.
Game 6 in Los Angeles is scheduled for Friday, May 12th.
