Kostas Sloukas was one of the key figures that gave Olympiacos Piraeus a win in the EuroLeague playoff series against Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul, a team he used to play for.

First, he drained a buzzer-beating game-winner in Game 3. Then, he stepped up his game in Game 5, earning himself a round MVP trophy.

Two days after the series came to an end, Sloukas posted a message to both Fenerbahce and Olympiacos fans on his Instagram page:

During this season’s EuroLeague playoff games, the tricky games of fate lead me to face a team that I truly love and respect. A team that gave me the opportunity to live unique moments and that has a special place in my heart. It was extremely difficult for me to get prepared for these basketball battles. Familiar people with whom I have shared glory, failure, stress and a bunch of feelings now were my opponents for a Final 4 ticket.

However, my team is Olympiacos!! It’s the team that I live and die for at this moment. So there was only one path, to do whatever I could to obtain this Final 4 ticket for Olympiacos! To accomplish this I had to overcome many obstacles mentally as well as physically. Yet, fate brought us to be the winners of a spectacular series of games adding significant success to the history of the club.

The way it happened is known.

Our focus now is to fight one more time with our fans by our side for a position in the final of glory, the final we all dream!

See you all again in a week!

Olympiacos will play against AS Monaco in the semifinal of the Final Four in Kaunas, Lithuania. Their game is scheduled for May 19th, 17:00 CET.
