Courtney Williams, A’ja Wilson named WNBA Players of the Week
Prior to the 2023 WNBA Playoffstipping off today, the league announced the recipients of thePlayer of the Week awards for the final week of the WNBA regularseason.
The Eastern Conference Player of theWeek is Courtney Williams of the Chicago Sky, who averaged 17.7points, 9.0 rebounds and 9.3 assists while leading the Sky to a 3-0record during the week. This is Williams' second time winning theWNBA's Player of the Week award this year.
Through 40 games this season, Williamshas averaged 10.4 points, 6.3 assists, 6.0 rebounds, 1.2 threes and1.0 steal, while shooting 43.7% from the field and 44.3% fromthree-point range.
The Western Conference Player of theWeek is A’ja Wilson of the Las Vegas Aces, who averaged 33.0points, 8.5 rebounds and 3.5 steals while leading the Aces to a 2-0record during the week. This is Wilson's fifth time winning theWNBA's Player of the Week award this year.
Through 40 games this season, Wilsonhas averaged 22.8 points, 9.5 rebounds, 2.2 blocks and 1.4 steals,while shooting 55.7% from the field and 31.0% from three-pointrange.
Williams and Wilson will face offduring the first round of the WNBA Playoffs, as the Sky and Acesare set to tip off their best-of-three series tonight at 10 p.m. ETon ESPN.
