"I'm chasing my boy MJ, for sure. It'll be hard, but I'm chasing him," the player said.
The Timberwolves season ended after getting eliminated by the Denver Nuggets in Round 1 of the NBA Playoffs. Edwards is sure that much could've been done on the court.
"I mean, I left a lot out there. I know what I need to work on. I know what I need to get better at, and I just want to be in the best shape," he shared. "My season was OK. It could've been a lot better."
The franchise made a bold move and traded away a bunch of assets to get Rudy Gobert in the 2022 offseason. Looking back, many believe that the move might have been detrimental to the organization.
There have been concerns about Edwards' relationship with Gobert, at least on the court. Timberwolves fans have noticed a lack of playmaking on Edwards' part toward Gobert, a center who needs opportunities to be created for him.
"Man, I love Rudy. Me and Rudy got a great understanding. We talk all the time, and I think he can get a lot better as far as catching the ball, jump hooking," Edwards said. "I tell him all the time, like 'Rudy, I'm [going to] throw you the ball every time. I want you to jump hook or money dunk on somebody,' and he be like, 'I got you.' This summer we're going to get together and work on it."
"He told me to trust him, and I started trusting him and giving it to him and he's making the right play. Shout-out to him, he kept making the right play in the pocket whether he was finishing or kicking it out. I trust him," the guard told.
He later revealed that he would practice with Gobert during the summer in France.
"Rudy is gonna pay for everything, he got all the money," Edwards said about who's paying.
