Several months ago, Konstantinos Mitoglou was issued a 32-month ban from playing basketball for anti-doping violations. The player's camp is going to appeal the decision, but not in the traditional way.

The FIBA Disciplinary Panel's ban is set to expire on November 25, 2024. However, it might get shortened after an additional process.

According to Antonis Kalkavouras from Gazzetta.gr, Mitoglou's camp will bypass the FIBA Appeals Court and will go directly to the Court of Arbitration for Sport to appeal the decision.

This choice is expected to arrive during the summer. Kalkavouras notes that the ban's duration should be decreased by 10-12 months if Mitoglou's appeal is successful.

In that case, Mitoglou should be able to return to the basketball court in March of 2024 since he has already served 12 months of his 32-month suspension.

The substance Mitoglou had taken - metandienone - is one of the heaviest on the WADA-banned substances list. The female doctor is said to have promised treatments that helped treat various things, from repairing injuries or boosting athletic performance to increasing libido or fighting aging.

Mitoglou is said to have turned to the now-infamous doctor after he suffered a foot fracture in the 2021-22 season.
