Jokic directed his teammates in the Nuggets' huddles, instructing them to clear one side of the court to facilitate a two-man game with Jamal Murray.
In praising Jokic's leadership, Malone humorously referred to him as "Coach Jokic".
"Coach Jokic did a great job tonight," Malone said.
However, when asked about his role as a coach, Jokic brushed off the idea, making a witty remark.
"I don't want to be a coach," Jokic said. "That's the worst job on the planet for sure."
The Nuggets seized control of the game by outscoring the Lakers 35-26 in the fourth quarter.
With their commanding 3-0 series lead against the Lakers, the Nuggets find themselves on the verge of making history. If they secure just one more victory, it would mark the first time in franchise history that Denver reaches the NBA Finals.
Game 4 is scheduled for Monday at Crypto.com Arena.
