The French League (LNB) handed out its annual rewards on Wednesday. With Victor Wembanyama capturing five different trophies, Cholet Basket's Laurent Vila was named the best coach in the tournament.
After the third-place game, Monaco's coach Sasa Obradovic wanted to talk about the respect he thinks he doesn't get as a leader of the best team in the league.
"We should talk about the appreciation of the coach. I didn't even get close to being the coach of the year in France. How can you explain this?" he started off.
"I was the first one to vote for the best coach, I was the one voting for him, but not being even close? What is this? What kind of behavior is this? Is it because I'm Serbian?" Obradovic said. "Why are you putting me aside? Who can explain this? I didn't deserve this two years in a row?"
Olympiacos Piraeus' head coach Georgios Bartzokas was named EuroLeague Coach of the Year for the 2022-23 season. Obradovic received some votes for the trophy as well.
