Pippen noted that before he came to join Jordan on the Bulls, Jordan was "horrible to play with."
Since LeBron James passed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar this season to become the NBA's all-time leading scorer, Pippen first referred to the Lakers star.
"LeBron James will be the greatest statistical guy to ever play the game of basketball. And there's no comparison to him. None," Pippen told Stacey King's 'Gimme The Hot Sauce' web show.
He then said he wouldn't take a side in the greatest of all-time debate, before promptly taking a clear shot at Jordan.
"So, does that make him the greatest player ever to play the game? I'll leave that out for debating because I don't believe that there's a great player, because our game's a team game, and one player can't do it. Like, I have seen Michael Jordan play before I came to play with the Bulls.
You guys have seen him play. He was a horrible player. He was horrible to play with. He was all one-on-one, he's shooting bad shots, and all of a sudden, we become a team and we start winning, everybody forgot who he was."
While Jordan did win all six of his championships while playing alongside Pippen, he earned All-Star honors in each of his first three seasons, prior to the Bulls acquiring Pippen in 1987. Jordan even led the league in scoring in 1986-87.
Pippen's statement seems to be a continuation of his public beef with Jordan over how he was depicted in The Last Dance, the 10-part docuseries produced by ESPN in 2020 about the end of the Bulls' dynastic run. Pippen ripped the series in his book, Unguarded.
