Thursday night, Twitter users discovered that Lewis had allegedly created a so-called burner account (since-deleted) on the platform to defend himself.
The account went under the name of "blair cuttliff." Before it got discovered, it only followed five Twitter accounts -- NBA, NBA Official, NBA Referees, RefAnalytics, and George Mason Women's Basketball. The last account is associated with Lewis' wife being the head coach of the team.
The primary purpose of the burner account was to defend Lewis and NBA officiating. When individuals would discuss Lewis in a negative light or raise questions about his officiating, the account would interject to clarify that the criticism did not pertain to him.
Eric Lewis has been officiating in the NBA for 19 seasons. He officiated games during the 2019, 2020, and 2021 NBA Finals.
