"We are doing everything we can, a necessary treatment to get it healed," Sabonis said. "I had a scan after the season, getting another [one] today. Just trying to do everything that I can."
"We have no idea [whether it will require surgery]," Sabonis added.
Sabonis was diagnosed with an avulsion fracture of the ulnar collateral ligament of the right thumb in December. However, he ended the season playing through it.
The Kings All-Star was also asked about participating in the upcoming FIBA Basketball World Cup with Lithuania national team. However, Sabonis couldn't provide a definitive answer just yet.
"Nothing yet. It all depends on my scan and how I move forward," Sabonis answered.
Sabonis also mentioned that despite being eliminated in the first playoff round, the whole team has plenty of motivation to improve.
"Getting better as a player, doing what I need to do to take Kings to the next level," Sabonis said about the upcoming offseason. "I feel like everyone on this team has the same mindset. Everyone left with that motivation. It's certainly going to push us and motivate us this whole summer."
During the 2022-23 season, Sabonis averaged 19.1 points, 12.3 rebounds, and 7.3 assists per game over 79 appearances. He was also included in All-NBA 3rd Team.
