Malian 14-year-old Moussa Coulibaly is registering absurd numbers in the Spanish U14 championship finals.
Playing for Realejos, Coulibaly averages 43.3 points on 69.4% shooting, 38.7 rebounds, and 3 blocks per game for a whopping 76 PIR.
What's more impressive is that his averages were even higher after the first two games. He averaged 53.5 points and 47 rebounds for a mind-blowing 92 PIR.
"In an informal conversation with a friend who is also dedicated to basketball, he showed me a video of Moussa and we saw potential. My wife and I saw that it was a good option, we inquired about the procedures, we spoke with the parents, who were delighted, and they came to Spain," Coulibaly's coach Pablo Yanez told Relevo.
"He had a language barrier. It was difficult for him during the first two months but he loosened up little by little," the coach said. "It helped that he went to school with my son and that they are also on the team together. He spoke French but his accent didn't help. We had to use Google Translate to communicate."
Coulibaly is 2.06 meters tall and has a wingspan of 220 cm.
"From the beginning, we assumed that people would think that he is older," the coach admitted. "We try to ignore it. It doesn't make sense. Since he arrived in December, he has grown three centimeters, which means that he's still in that growth process."
"He's very fast and mobile. Despite his physique, he moves well and attacks the offensive rebounds very well," he described Coulibaly. "He has a lot of coordination and mobility and is starting to shoot well."
A few weeks before the U14 championships finals, Coulibaly averaged great numbers in the U16 championship as well, registering averages of 16 points and 11 rebounds.
