Dimitris Itoudis couldn't help Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul overcome the obstacle of Anadolu Efes in the Turkish BSL playoffs.

The thread of the squad coached by the Greek tactician was cut short in the semi-finals, as the two-time EuroLeague champs prevailed by 3-1 in the series and qualified for the finals, where they will be playing Pinar Karsiyaka or Turk Telekom.

For Fenerbahce, that was the end of the road in a season with many ups and downs that defined its course. Game 4 at the Sinan Erdem finished with a score of 87-78 for the hosts and Itoudis had the chance to take stock of the 2022-23 campaign for his side.

He first congratulated Efes on making the finals and then went on to break down what went wrong for Fener.

"The series was played between two big teams. Both are valuable and historical EuroLeague clubs. We've lost some very important games at the last minute this season. We had a lot of injuries, but we have always overcome them. We fought," Itoudis commented.

"It's very clear when some things lose their value. Sometimes you have to lose something to understand. I apologize to our fans for not making it to the finals. I can say that now we have a very good chemistry and group of players. I would like to thank the entire management for their hard work," he continued.

Referring to Fenerbahce's last game of the season, Itoudis said it was interesting "from a defensive standpoint."

"We missed rebounds and some shots. We weren't bad offensively, but on defense, we have things to work on against a team like Anadolu Efes. I wish them success too. They have been a very good competitor. I would like to thank the players, coaches, technical team and also Fenerbahce TV who followed us throughout the season," the two-time EuroLeague winner concluded.
