According to FIBA's official website, the sanction has already been imposed on the game official.
The reason that has brought the punishment on the 37-year-old referee is illegal betting and match-fixing of some of the games he was called to officiate.
Daut Mehmeti, 37, saw his career in professional refereeing come to an early and inglorious end. According to bgbasket.com, Mehmeti refereed six Maccabi Haifa matches in his last nine appearances on the court.
The announcement for the sanction mentions a "suspension from carrying out a function" and a "prohibition on participating in all FIBA or FIBA-related activities" for breaching the federation'sCode of Ethics and Integrity, in terms of Betting and Manipulation of Competitions.
Just two months ago, FIBA also punished Iskra Svit's 30-year-old guard, Sasa Avramovic, for the same reason for which Daut Mehmeti was punished.
