According to Eurohoops' Bugra Uzar, Erdem Can will soon take over the head coaching duties. The Turkish tactician, who reached the EuroCup finals with Turk Telekom this season and was selected as the competition's Coach Of the Year, will sign a two-year contract with Anadolu Efes, per the same report.
Under the management of the 43-year-old coach, Turk Telekom completed the regular season as the leader in the Basketball Super League. However, Pınar Karsiyaka 3-1 eliminated them in the semi-final series.
Before his tenure with Turk Telekom, Can served as an assistant coach for a decade. He worked under prominent coaches such as Neven Spahija (2012-13), Zeljko Obradovic (2013-20), and Igor Kokoskov (2020-21) at Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul. Can also had a stint with the NBA's Utah Jazz under Quin Snyder (2021-22).
According to Eurohoops, two more players are also on their way to the EuroLeague powerhouse. Erkan Yilmaz, who left Bahcesehir in the summer, had a remarkable first campaign with Turk Telekom.
One of the most important names of the Istanbul team, the 25-year-old small forward stood out with his versatility.Having played a total of 36 Basketball Super League matches with Turk Telekom this season, Yilmaz averaged 7.8 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.9 assists and one steal per game.
However, Can is slated to bring another of his ex-players to his new environment. Tyrique Jones, an All-EuroCup Second Team selection, averaged 12.7 points, 8.0 rebounds and 1.2 steals in his team's outstanding run.
Jones averaged 14.0 points, 8.7 rebounds and 1.8 assists in the Basketball Super League and also claimed MVP honors.
BasketNews sources deny there's an agreement in place between Jones and Efes. Jones, one of the hottest new names on the EuroLeague market, is closely monitored by a few EuroLeague teams.
Moreover, according to Yagiz Sabuncuoglu from Sports Digitale, Anadolu Efes have also reached an agreement with Darussafaka Lassa, Dogus Ozdemiroglu.
The Turkish point guard, who has been with Dacka since 2017, extended his contract with the club for two more years last season. The 27-year-old Turkish international competed in 32 Basketball Super League matches this season averaging 14.4 points, 4.8 rebounds, 6.3 assists and 2.3 steals.
