Montenegrin NT head coach Bosko Radovic has announced the preliminary roster of 24 players for the upcoming FIBA World Cup 2023. The notable inclusion in the squad is the Chicago Bulls center Nikola Vucevic, who is expected to play a key role for Montenegro.

Vucevic competed for his country at the 2011, 2013, and 2017 EuroBaskets, as well as at the 2019 World Cup in China. He averaged 17.6 points, 11.0 rebounds, and 3.2 assists over 82 regular-season games in 2022-23.

This is extremely important news for Montenegro, who will play the group stage in Pasay of the Philippines, joining Egypt, Lithuania, and Mexico in Group D. The tournament tips off on August 25 and wraps up on September 10.

Montenegro gathers into their first training camp on July 21.

As part of their preparations, the team has scheduled a friendly game against France on August 2, followed by a home match against Serbia three days later.

Montenegro has also confirmed their involvement in another friendly tournament, to be held in Georgia. The team will face the hosts, as well as Iran in this competition.
