KZS confirmed that Slovenia would finish its preparation for the upcoming competition with a friendly game against Japan on August 19 in Tokyo.

Slovenia will also face such basketball powerhouses as Team USA, Greece, Spain, and Croatia.

During the FIBA Basketball World Cup, Slovenia will play in Group F in Okinawa, Japan, and face Cape Verde, Georgia, and Venezuela. If Slovenia advances to the Second Round, it will meet teams from Group E, consisting of Germany, Finland, Australia, and one of the host nations, Japan.

Luka Doncic already confirmed he will play in FIBA Basketball World Cup. Meanwhile, Goran Dragic announced he won't join his national team this year.

Slovenia will also compete without the team's captain Edo Muric, who tore his ACL in the Slovenian League (SKL) final game.

Last September, during the EuroBasket 2022, Muric was a notable role player in the Slovenian national team, averaging 17.2 minutes, 4.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 5.0 EFF per game.

FIBA Basketball World Cup will take place in the Philippines, Japan, and Indonesia from August 25th to September 10th and will be hosted by three nations for the first time.
