Draymond Green suspended 5 games without pay for Rudy Gobert headlock
Golden State Warriorsforward Draymond Green has been suspended five games without payfor "escalating an on-court altercation and forcibly grabbingMinnesota Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert around the neck in anunsportsmanlike and dangerous manner," it was announced today byJoe Dumars, NBA Executive Vice President, Head of BasketballOperations.
The NBA made it clear intheir announcement that the length of the suspension is based inpart on Green’s history of unsportsmanlike acts.
In addition, Warriors guardKlay Thompson and Timberwolves forward Jaden McDaniels and centerRudy Gobert have each been fined $25,000 for their roles in theincident, which started when Thompson and McDaniels becameentangled and were grabbing and pulling at one another’s jerseys,and continued when Gobert entered the situation and wrapped upThompson.

The incident occurredwith10:17remaining in the first quarter of theTimberwolves’ 104-101 win over the Warriors on Nov. 14 at ChaseCenter.
Green will begin servinghis five-game suspension onThursday, November 16whenthe Warriors host the Oklahoma City Thunder.
