Newly elected EuroLeague CEO Paulius Motiejunas revealed he has the ambition to make every EuroLeague's team budget and player's salary public.

Motiejunas revealed some of his plans on Tuesday during the Zalgiris Kaunas press conference, where Paulius Jankunas was confirmed as the new Zalgiris general manager.

BasketNews Donatas Urbonas asked Motiejunas about the possibility of having EuroLeague teams' and players' salaries known to the public. That's what he had to say on the matter.

"I hope [to make it possible]," Motiejunas said. "We are talking about breaking a taboo. For me, it seems inevitable, and that's how it should be. We have an example in the NBA. Can we do it in Europe? I'm very hopeful that's the case."

"I don't see what could be hidden. With all due respect, I also don't see the point of giving the media [a reason] to blow things out of proportion. If you provide all the facts, there's no room for interpretation. I hope [it will be possible to do it], but we'll see what the clubs think," Motiejunas continued.

Motiejunas also gave a positive update on introducing the salary cap in the EuroLeague.

"I'd say we are successfully moving towards it," Motiejunas said. "I've met with a workgroup that works on this matter, and it has come a long way already. We need to confirm all the details, unify positions and thoughts of every team and push the start button."

After being asked to specify the potential details of how a salary cap could look like in Europe, Motiejunas didn't provide additional info, saying that everything would be revealed after everything is confirmed.
