Motiejunas has been named 3rd EuroLeague CEO in 3 years. As the 42-year-old executive says, a decision to introduce the term to CEO post has been made to bring more clarity inside the EuroLeague.
Motiejunas received a question about whether his decision to become EuroLeague CEO was only a temporary solution or a long-term vision.
"I know this question is very important for everyone. Therefore, I want to say that in the last year, and the shareholders meeting last week, I confirmed that we want to introduce a tenure for the EuroLeague CEO position."
"There was no such thing until now. Therefore, Jordi [Bertomeu] was in his position for many years. My plan is to have a term. We will discuss with the clubs how long that term could be," Motiejunas added.
Motiejunas also confirmed that the first EuroLeague CEO elections will take place next summer, and he will be one of the running candidates.
"I can already confirm that we will have elections in the upcoming summer. During this year, we will set all the details of how those elections should look. There will be at least a few different candidates. I can also confirm that I will continue as CEO. I'm not going to spend just one year," Motiejunas said.
