After FC Barcelona clinched the Spanish ACB League title, the club's sports director Juan Carlos Navarro gave an update on Sarunas Jasikevicius' future.

The 43-year-old executive told the reporters that Barcelona want to extend Jasikevicius' contract, and the club is happy with the Lithuanian tactician.

"Jasikevicius' contract ends right now, and we want him to be our coach," Gigantes quotes Navarro. "Now we have to make some tweaks, and if the project is good, which I'm sure will be good, we'll let him know. I don't think there's a problem with him continuing next year with Barca."

"He understands the club perfectly. As everyone knows, there will be reductions in all sections, and we will try to make the best team possible. And we will get it.

Next year we will return, without a doubt. I'll take care of that. Very happy with how we have finished but already working very hard in the next season," Navarro added.

Jasikevicius joined Barcelona's bench in 2020. Since then, the Spanish powerhouse has won two ACB titles, two Spanish Copa del Rey trophies, and made EuroLeague Final Four in all three seasons.

Navarro also gave his statement on Nikola Mirotic's situation, who will leave the club even though he has a contract for another 2 seasons.

"The decision about Mirotic was made long ago, and it was surprising that it came out before the final. But I already said, Mirotic has been very well these last 3 weeks, and we must congratulate him," Navarro said.

"The decision has been made, and we had already communicated it to him personally. It is the club's decision, and we will head different paths," Navarro concluded.
