According to Shams Charania from The Athletic, the Boston Celtics are interested in acquiring the former no. 4 overall pick in a potential opt-in-and-trade deal.
The Clippers are involved in trade talks as the third partner as well. With Porzingis landing with the Celtics, Boston would send Marcus Morris and draft compensation to Washington, while Malcolm Brogdon would go to Los Angeles, Charania adds.
In 65 games last season, Porzingis averaged 23.2 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game for the Wizards.
The organization traded away its biggest star Bradley Beal to the Phoenix Suns on Sunday. Additionally, Kyle Kuzma has declined his player option in the contract and will become a free agent. If Porzingis leaves the team, it would mark a total makeover in Washington.
