A deal between three teams disrupted the otherwise pretty quiet NBA landscape. The implications of the move will go beyond the upcoming season.

Kristaps Porzingis is leaving the Washington Wizards and will be heading to the Boston Celtics in a deal that involves the Memphis Grizzlies as well. Boston's Marcus Smart is going to Memphis for two first-rounders. The Wizards will be getting three players and a second-rounder.

The Latvian center wanted to make a move to Boston. To make it happen, he had to opt-in to his player option in the deal with the Wizards. With subsequently only one year left in the contract, Porzingis is expected to sign a two-year extension with the Celtics, NBA insider Marc Stein reports.

There is a strong expectation that the deal will be done as soon as Porzingis becomes eligible in early July, Stein adds.

Washington has now traded away their two biggest stars Bradley Beal and Porzingis. However, they will not be getting a single first-round pick out of it. Kyle Kuzma declined his player option in the contract as well.
