Tarpey played for Le Mans Sarthe for the past six seasons, averaging 13.5 points, 4 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game for 13.5 PIR in the LNB.
He became widely known during the EuroBasket 2022 when he shined as a role player. "For me, it was an easy and obvious choice given the ambition displayed by the club. They want to win everything, and that's what I want," he said in the announcement.
Tarpey revealed that he had a moderately long conversation with head coach Sasa Obradovic several weeks ago.
"I had a good discussion of 20-30 minutes with Sasa three weeks ago. We talked about our common mentalities, his way of coaching, and what he could achieve from me," the player revealed. "I'm a bit of a John Brown profile with this desire to always be everywhere on the pitch. That's what I want to bring."
During EuroBasket 2022, Tarpey revealed that he surprisingly has Lithuanian roots.
