In 18 years of professional basketball, Markovic played for 10 teams, most notably for Benneton, Valencia, Zenit, Khimki, Virtus, and Crvena Zvezda.
He enrolled himself in the 2010 NBA Draft but did not get his name called.
During 6 seasons in the EuroLeague, Markovic averaged 4.0 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 3.3 assists for 5.4 PIR.
Markovic earned three silver medals with the Serbian national team - in EuroBasket 2009, the 2014 FIBA World Cup, and the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.
