However, sources from BasketNews indicate that Shields is set to continue his career in Milan on a new two-year agreement.
Standing at 2.01m tall and holding both American and Danish citizenship, Shields arrived in Italy from Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz in 2020 and quickly became one of the top players in the EuroLeague.
In consecutive years, 2021 and 2022, Shields made it to the All-EuroLeague Second Team.
This year, injuries prevented him from continuing that streak. In the 10 EuroLeague games he played this season, averaging 22 minutes per game, Shields recorded 8.2 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 2.2 assists.
In comparison, Shields averaged 13 points, 4.0 rebounds, 1.1 steals, 2.8 assists, and a 14.2 performance index rating in the previous season.
Shields was a pivotal figure in Milan's championship-winning campaign in the Italian league.
Throughout the 7-game series against Virtus Bologna, Shields maintained an average of 16.2 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game.
