Pistons drop 28th straight, tying NBA record for longest losing streak
With Thursday's heartbreaking122-128 overtime loss against the Boston Celtics, the DetroitPistons' losing streak reached28-consecutive games — tyingthe record for the longest losing spell in NBA history.
The Pistons are tied with thePhiladelphia 76ers, who lost 28-straight games across two seasons(2014-15 to 2015-16). Detroit now holds the longest single-seasonlosing streak of all-time.
The Pistons had their chanceslate in the game, even sending the game to overtime, but could notclose out the Celtics. This was Boston's 22nd-straight win at home,where they are undefeated this season.
Cade Cunningham led anotherspirited effort for Detroit, putting up 31 points, 9 assists and 6rebounds, but he just could not will his team to victory. Thiscomes after a herculean performance just two nights earlier againstthe Brooklyn Nets, when he had 41 points on 71%shooting.
Kristaps Porzingis helped theCeltics avoid disaster by tallying 35 points on 13-of-21 from thefield and 8 boards, including a late dunk in transition to seal thegame.

Zion Williamson had a neartriple-double, while Brandon Ingram and CJ McCollum each added20-plus points as New Orleans snapped a two-game skid at theSmoothie King Center against Utah.

Anthony Edwards dropped aseason-high 44 points as the Minnesota Timberwolves outlasted theLuka Doncic-less Dallas Mavericks on Thursday night. Edwards shot12-of-23 from the field, with 6 threes and 14 free throws, keepingthe Wolves atop the West at 23-7.
Tim Hardaway Jr. led the way forthe Mavs with 32 points off the bench on the second night of aback-to-back after a frustrating loss last night to the ClevelandCavaliers.
