In an interview with Lyndal Scranton from Springfield Daily Citizen, Weems revealed that he will be staying in Italy, confirming a previous report by BasketNews.

"I'm close to a deal in Italy in the first division again. I just changed agents. There's still some wrinkles to be ironed out, but it's looking like we'll be staying in the first division in Italy, just not quite sure where yet," he said.

"Either way, the options I have are really good, financially and family-wise, and at this stage of the game that's all I can ask for," Weems continued. "We should be doing something here pretty soon. As soon as I do, I'll make it official on all my social media so everybody will know."

The 33-year-old did not play in the Italian League (LBA) playoffs due to a foreigner limit in the competition. The club's fans prepared a special thank-you message during the postseason though, praising the player for his years with Virtus.

"My hunger and eagerness to start preparing for the next season is probably at an all-time high considering the situation I had, not being able to play in the playoffs," the forward said. "Being able to take that challenge every day to stay in shape, to work on my body, that’s something that I haven't lost yet."

"I'm not sure when I will lose it. I hope it's not within the next couple of years, but right now, it's time to prepare for the next season. I'm pretty sure no matter where I'm going it'll be a two-year contract and that will lock me in until the age of 35 going into 36," Weems shared.

After he ends his career, Weems would like to start working as a basketball agent, he revealed. The first steps toward his newly-established goal have already been made.

"That's one of the reasons I changed representation. I got the opportunity to work with BDA, the Bill Duffy Agency, a big-time NBA agent here who recently merged with William Morris who just signed guys like Grady Dick and Jaylen Wilson of Kansas and Anthony Edwards of the Timberwolves," he said. "I would be on the international side. There's a tenured veteran agent from Serbia who's willing to show me the ropes and the ins and outs of it."

"I can start as soon as this summer going out to the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas, watch some Summer League games, dive in and see what it's all about. That way when the time is time to be done, I will know exactly what it is I need to be doing and hit it, head on," Weems concluded.
