In addition to drafting French phenomenon Victor Wembanyama as the first overall pick and selecting Sidy Cissoko at No. 44, the franchise is set to welcome another Frenchman in Guillaume Alquier, according to L'equipe.

Alquier, who is a strength and conditioning coach of Wembanyama, is on the verge of finalizing his commitment to join the Texan team and work under head coach Gregg Popovich as a physical trainer.

During this past season, Wemby practiced with his team Metropolitans 92 while simultaneously benefiting from Alquier's expertise as his personal trainer.

The pair developed an unwavering bond of trust throughout the 2022-23 season, with Wembanyama consistently avoiding injuries thanks to Alquier's innovative training methods.

Wembanyama played in every game last season for Mets 92, averaging 21.6 points, 10.4 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 3.0 blocks per game in 34 appearances in the French League. He led the domestic championship in scoring, rebounding, and blocks and was named the MVP of the competition.

Alquier commenced his work with the 7-foot-5 French prodigy last August, focusing on enhancing his natural movements, refining his actions and coordination, and optimizing his physical abilities.

Wemby recently shared with L'Equipe that he has made the decision not to participate in the upcoming FIBA World Cup 2023 with the French national team. His decision stems from a desire to prioritize the careful development of his body, as he prepares for his rookie season with the Spurs.
