Laporta emphasized that the overall well-being of the organization comes first and acknowledged the need to adjust the budget, which currently stands at 40 million euros.
"At this time, we cannot maintain a budget of 40 million euros," Laporta emphasized. "We have to redirect it because the budget of the sections also affects 'fair play'. As part of our feasibility plan, we have to adjust. And it's not about generating more income, it's about saving in wages."
The top executive also said that discussions are underway with star forward Nikola Mirotic, who is slated to leave Catalonia, to find a resolution and ease the burden of his high salary.
"In the case of Niko [Nikola Mirotic], we have found ourselves burdened with an unsustainable contract," Laporta underlined. "We are currently in discussions with him to explore possibilities of redirecting this high salary."
Nikola Mirotic's departure from Barcelona faces critical deadlineIn the matter of coach Sarunas Jasikevicius' exit, the Barca president mentioned some concerns about the contract renewal process, highlighting the importance of fair negotiation practices and the need to avoid putting the club at a disadvantage.
"As for Saras [Sarunas Jasikevicius], he is dear to us, and Barca will always be his home. Personally, I had a great relationship with him. However, Saras' contract had expired, and it was perhaps one of the biggest deals in Europe. Following a detailed sports analysis conducted by our technical office, it was determined that it was best not to continue with him and start a new chapter," Laporta said.

"And then, I don't want to go too much into the subject of his contract renewal but we didn't like how everything was done -- Barca cannot be put against the ropes when it comes to negotiating," the 61-year-old continued. "From a sporting and economic standpoint, we concluded that renewing his contract was not beneficial. Instead, we have placed our trust in Roger Grimau."
Last but not least, Laporta assured that the economic restrictions imposed by La Liga would not lead to the dismantling of the club's various sections and expressed optimism about the basketball team's competitiveness, revealing a budget of about 30 million euros.
"We firmly believe in our sections and their contribution to Barca as a multi-sports club. Can we remain competitive in basketball? Absolutely! We will have a budget of approximately 30 million euros, which is still significant," Laporta underlined. "We have players who are eager to join us."
