The game was stopped with a couple of minutes left in the second quarter. Initially, a fan evacuation was recommended, but the game resumed. As a result, AEK received a fine of EUR 50,000 and were ordered to play all the home games of the next BCL season behind closed doors.
The Greek club filed an appeal at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). However, what happened in Ano Liossia has not been forgotten by Israeli fans.
Per Sportal's Christos Tsaltas, the 550 Hapoel Jerusalem fans that attended the game in Athens sent an extrajudicial document requesting a meeting with AEK's management in July, asking for compensation for any harm caused to them. In the letter, they mention that many families and children were among the travelers and that the incidents took a heavy toll on them, as some are being monitored by psychologists.
At the same time, Hapoel have provided medical reports for fans who were injured during the incidents. Israeli fans are determined to go all the way, pointing out that if no solution is found out of court, the case will follow the legal path.
AEK reacted to the accusations by complaining about the behavior of Hapoel's fans and the treatment that the Greek delegation received during its stay in Jerusalem. They also claim that some home fans were also injured by objects thrown by the visiting crowd.
