Last season, averaged 12.5 points, 9.1 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game. He played in a total of 72 games, splitting his time between the Raptors and the San Antonio Spurs.
Toronto acquired Poeltl from the Spurs during the trade deadline. In exchange, they sent Khem Birch, a top-six protected first-round pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, and two second-round selections (in 2023 and 2025) to San Antonio.
Poeltl originally began his NBA career with the Raptors after being selected ninth overall in the 2016 draft. However, he was later traded to the Spurs in the significant deal that brought Kawhi Leonard to Toronto in the summer of 2018.
