Ball suffered a right ankle fracture in a game against the Detroit Pistons in February, which forced him to miss the rest of the 2022-23 NBA season. Before going out with an injury, Ball averaged 23.3 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 8.4 assists for the team.
The year before, LaMelo got voted into the NBA All-Star Game for the first time in his career. In 2021, he was named the Rookie of the Year.
After selecting Ball 3rd overall in the 2020 NBA Draft, the Hornets will now have a cornerstone of the franchise for the foreseeable future.
