Antonis Kalkavouras from Gazzetta.gr reports that about two weeks ago, Antetokounmpo made a short trip to New York, where he underwent an arthroscopy on his knee.

The procedure and the knee problem are not considered serious, but Antetokounmpo is considering skipping the upcoming World Cup. However, as Gazzetta reports, the Greek Basketball Federation is still waiting for the final Giannis decision.

Giannis brother, Kostas Antetokounmpo, also underwent a meniscus cleaning on June 28. A few days ago, Thanasis was asked about his availability for the World Cup, but the 30-year-old did not want to speculate and did not provide a clear answer about his decision.

This season, Giannis averaged 31.1 points, 11.8 rebounds, and 5.7 assists per game over 63 appearances for the Bucks.

During the FIBA Basketball World Cup, Greece will play in Group C in Manila, Philippines, and face Team USA, Jordan, and New Zealand.

If Greece advances to the Second Round, it will meet teams from Group D, consisting of Montenegro, Egypt, Mexico, and Lithuania.

FIBA Basketball World Cup will take place in the Philippines, Japan, and Indonesia from August 25 to September 10 and will be hosted by three nations for the first time.
