He has had a great year in Turkey, averaging 14.9 points, 6.1 assists, 3.2 rebounds, 1.3 steals and 2.9 turnovers, shooting 54% on 2-pointers, 30% on 3-pointers and 82% on free throws per 33:27 minutes.
On the other hand, he averaged 16.3 points and 5.7 in the Turkish BSL.
Grant had been one of the players closely monitored by PAO head coach Ergin Ataman, per Giorgos Kouvaris from gazzetta.gr. Ataman had reportedly singled out three players from the Turkish league for the backup point guard position. Hence, Grant isn't destined to be an option for Panathinaikos' first rotation, but rather a player who's going to come off the bench.
Grant, 31, started his professional career in New York, followed by his NBA career in Chicago, Orlando and Washington. His first European stop was Promitheas Patras in 2020, and then came the call from Armani Milan in 2021. The season in Italy did not go according to expectations, and a return to a lower level of competition followed.
The decision to move to Turk Telekom turned out to be a great one, and under the guidance of Erdem Can, he showed how useful he can be.
