Kostas Sloukas' second stint with Olympiacos Piraeus reached its final point, as the Greek guard informed the club that he's not going to stay with the team.

Sloukas, 33, met last Monday with the Angelopoulos brothers, co-owners of Olympiacos, in a meeting that lasted 4 hours, which did not bring any results regarding the renewal of his contract, with many expecting that there would be a second meeting. However, the player's side decided that another discussion wouldn't change anything.

Sloukas vouched to give his answer during the day, which ended up being negative. The Greek international wanted more time to analyze and process all the alternatives that were on the table and finally made the decision not to sign a new contract with the Reds, looking for his basketball future beyond Greece.

It was no secret that Sloukas wasn't happy with his role at Olympiacos, since coach Giorgos Bartzokas used to play him with the second unit.

According to Konstantinos Melayess from gazzetta.gr, Olympiacos contacted the player's agent Panagiotis Kapazoglou (who also represents Bartzokas) on Wednesday night to remind him that he should give a definite answer by Thursday. Olympiacos had reportedly offered Sloukas a 2+1 deal worth between 4.5 and 5 million euros.

Bartzokas had made it clear to the management that he wanted Sloukas on the team and that he considered him a core player, but also that he was going to use him in the way he thought best.

As communication between the coach and the player had broken down lately, Sloukas stood firm on his decision to leave Olympiacos after three years.

His most likely destination is Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul, which have made him an offer for 2+1 years.

The 33-year-old guard this year played 22:50 in the Euroleague, averaging 11 points, 2.1 rebounds, 5.6 assists and 2.1 turnovers.
