Luigi Datome announced that he will retire from professional basketball after FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023, where he will represent the Italian national team.

35-year-old Italian will remain with his former team, EA7 Emporio Armani Milan, in a different capacity.

In his last professional season, Datome played in 6 EuroLeague games for Olimpia Milan, averaging 3.7 points, 0.8 rebounds, and 1.7 PIR.

His best career season was back in the 2015-16 campaign when he averaged 12.4 points, 4.4 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 13.3 PIR over 29 EuroLeague appearances for Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul.

Throughout his career, Datome played for Montepaschi Sienna, Scafati Givonna, Virtus Roma, Detroit Pistons, Boston Celtics, Fenerbahce, and Olimpia Milan.
