Denver Nuggets draft pick Ismael Kamagate will continue his career in EA7 Emporio Armani Milan, where he will discover the EuroLeague before perhaps joining the NBA to be Nikola Jokic's backup.

That's the franchise's plan for the young prospect, as described by the assistant GM of the Nuggets Tommy Blacetis. The 22-year-old center, who was selected with the 46th pick, is expected to join Milan on a two-year deal.

In 23 minutes per game in the 2022-23 EuroCup season, Kamagate averaged 9.2 points (76.3% 2FG, 80.4% FT), 8.4 rebounds (2.8 ORB), 1.5 blocks, and a 17.2 PIR.

"He's a player that we really like," Tommy Balcetis told DNVR Nuggets. "He has great potential to become a modern big man in the NBA. He is excellent at finishing near the rim, he has gone 70% this season. He just needs more playing time, and I mean Euroleague minutes.

The G-League is good because you can follow the players closely, but the Euroleague is the second-best level in the world. He will play at this level, in a great team, under a great coach like Ettore Messina. It's going to be like a university. He clearly has the body and the skillset."

"We don't know how long he will stay there, but he has the tools, the mentality, the qualities, and the physique," continued Balcetis.

"We follow his progress and we hope that, when the time comes, he will come to us. We want him to get to a point where he can be Nikola Jokic's backup. We know that's a lot to ask," the assistant GM admitted.

While waiting to discover the EuroLeague and his new club, Kamagate will participate in the NBA Summer League with the Nuggets.
