This contract is the highest ever given by a Greek team to a domestic player since 2008, when Olympiacos managed to bring back Theodoros Papaloukas from CSKA Moscow. The 2007 EuroLeague MVP was receiving €3 million per season in Russia and the Reds had to spend the exact same amount to lure him.
With his PAO deal, Sloukas tied Papaloukas as the highest-paid Greek player ever.

Spanoulis left Panathinaikos for their main rivals in the summer of 2010, signing a three-year contract worth €2.4 million per annum. When he returned to the club's offices to discuss his extension, he ended up penning a €2.6 million/year agreement.
The fifth-biggest contract ever signed by a Greek player belongs to Nick Calathes, whose extension with PAO in 2018 garnered him €2.2 million for every season of his three-year deal. Calathes' first contract with the Greens, signed in 2015, was worth €2 million and comes in 6th on the list.
