Silver was also happy for the 19-year-old Frenchman for bouncing back after an underwhelming NBA Summer League debut.

"I've had the opportunity to spend time with him in New York around the draft," Silver said. "I also met him when we played a regular-season game in Paris in January. And my initial reaction is that he's an incredible young man."

"I almost don't even want to caveat it with young man because he seems just to be an incredible person. [He is] mature beyond his years, worldly, cultured, thoughtful, and also has the potential to do amazing things in this league," Silver added.

In his second game and an 80-85 loss against the Portland Trail Blazer, Wembanyama finished the game with 27 points (7/10 2PT, 2/4 3PT, 7/12 FT), 12 rebounds, 3 blocks, 1 steal, and 3 turnovers.

After the game, theSan Antonio Spursrookie admitted he's going to spend the upcoming months resting and preparing for his debut NBA season.

"I will talk to Pop and listen to what he's going to say, but I'm ready to make any sacrifice for the team," Wembanyama said. "I need to sit down with him to know what the next months are going to be like."
