Paul Zipser spent the last four seasons with FC Bayern Munich. He will now play for another team.

The club officially announced that the 29-year-old forward is leaving the organization and will play for his hometown team Heidelberg.

However, the 1+1 contract with his new team includes options to come back to Bayern after each season.

"Together with Paul, we decided to take a detour, so that he can find his rhythm and confidence again by having more playing time and a more favorable practice schedule," Bayern's sports director Daniele Baiesi said.

Zipsersuffered a brain hemorrhage during the 2020-21 season that kept the player out of the basketball court for the vast majority of the 2021-22 season. Last year in the EuroLeague, he averaged 2.8 points and 1.1 rebounds for 1.9 PIR in 20 games for Bayern.
