After a bounce-back season in the EuroLeague with Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet Belgrade, Serbian big man Filip Petrusev has been playing in the NBA Summer League. He is set to stay in the US.

Petrusev has been representing the Philadelphia 76ers this month, averaging 10.4 points and 6.2 rebounds per game. The team's head coach in the NBA - Nick Nurse - has now revealed that the center will remain on the roster during the regular season as well.

Nurse went on Tyrese Maxey's podcast Maxey on the Mic where he talked about letting the young guys blossom while at the same time trying strategies that might translate into the season.

"We're getting our young guys a lot of minutes. Jaden [Springer] and Lou [King], and some of these guys, Filip, who's going to be on the roster this year... but we're also tactically trying to build," the coach said.

Petrusev played for Crvena Zvezda last year. He feels better while playing in the Summer League now than in previous years.

"I’m just feeling more confident, I know what to expect and I came more prepared compared to last year and the year before," he told The Spokesman-Review. "I was not in as good shape as I am right now. I think it’s noticeable and that’s why I think I’m doing better this year.

His agent Misko Raznatovic told several months ago that the big man's future is either in the NBA or back in Belgrade.

"If he doesn't sign in the NBA until August, then I'll listen to Crvena Zvezda first because he really likes the environment there. In fact, I will not consider European options. I think that Filip will be in the NBA next season. If not, then, of course, he will be in Crvena Zvezda," Raznatovic told Georgios Zakkas from SDNA.
