Rasho Nesterovic leaves his position as a general secretary in the Slovenian Basketball Federation (KZS), KZS announced.

Nesterovic held his role since November 3, 2014. He joined the federation on June 16, 2012, when he became the vice-president of the association, which at the time was headed by President Roman Volcic.

At the same time, together with Peter Vilfan, he also acted as the ambassador of EuroBasket 2013 in Slovenia, thereby helping to promote the championship and Slovenian basketball in his homeland and beyond our borders.

"The decision to leave the post of General Secretary was extremely difficult, but made after long and careful consideration," Nesterovic said in a statement. "Even more than all the work that my colleagues and I have done in all these years, I am proud of this team of people who take care of Slovenian basketball day in and day out."

"We shared joy and disappointment together, and it made us better. I sincerely thank them for their excellent cooperation and work, and I wish them to continue working with such enthusiasm. Thank you to all representatives of basketball clubs, supporters of Slovenian basketball, and fans. I believe we will continue to meet in basketball halls," Nesterovic added.

Slovenia will compete in the upcoming FIBA Basketball World Cup, which starts on August 25.

Slovenia will play in Group F in Okinawa, Japan, and face Cape Verde, Georgia, and Venezuela. If Slovenia advances to the Second Round, it will meet teams from Group E, consisting of Germany, Finland, Australia, and one of the host nations, Japan.
