Jahlil Okafor looked set to become an NBA star when the Philadelphia 76ers selected him with the third overall draft pick in 2015.

However, his adventure in the League was far from successful, overshadowed by Joel Embiid in Philadelphia and unable to make a difference elsewhere. After the Sixers, Okafor played in Brooklyn, New Orleans and Detroit, never even reaching double digits in points.

Thus, he moved to China in 2022, and later to Mexico. Now the Nigerian center seems to be bound for Casademont Zaragoza. According to Spanish journalist Olga Lorente, Jahlil Okafor would be close to signing with the Spanish club which will not even play a European cup next season and which finished 13th in the last ACB campaign.

in the NBA G League (for the Capitanes de Ciudad de Mexico), the big man was successful, averaging 20.9 points and 8.1 rebounds per contest.

Okafor, now 27, was one of the most-hyped prospects of the 2015 class following a season in which he helped lead Duke to the national title. The Philadelphia 76ers selected the big man No. 3 overall that year (just behind Karl-Anthony Towns and D’Angelo Russell and ahead of Kristaps Porzingis and Devin Booker, all of whom went on to become All-Stars).

Though he was a super-skilled traditional low-post scorer, Okafor had the misfortune of entering the league right before that role went completely out of style. He failed to stick with the 76ers, posting 14.6 points and 5.9 rebounds per game for them during their tanking years before being let go.
