The ABA League held an Assembly before the upcoming season on Monday. It resulted in a situation where at least one of the clubs has been placed in an uncomfortable position.

According to Telegraf, Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet Belgrade face the possibility of beingkicked out of the league.

The outlet reports that Crvena Zvezda was the only club that was against the proposal to approve SC Derby as a shareholder of the organization, breaking the so-called social contract. SC Derby arrived in the ABA League after winning the secondary competition - ABA League 2 - in 2021 and have a right to become a shareholder.

Multiple clubs, including Partizan Mozzart Bet Belgrade, have initiated a procedure to kick Crvena Zvezda out of the league, Telegraf reports. Crvena Zvezda believe that the other teams have no legal grounds to perform such an action, the organization communicated to the news outlet.

Mozzart Sports reports that the clubs have until Friday, July 21st, to declare their official position regarding the social contract. If consent is not submitted, the team might lose its status as a shareholder and be unable to vote in the future.

Crvena Zvezda have won the ABA League six times since the league was formed in 2001.
