When he was asked what the chances of Towns playing for the country in the 2023 FIBA World Cup are, the answer surprised the hosts - Uribe said it's 90%.
"There's a mutual interest [between Towns and the federation], and we exchange messages on the phone every day," he said.
Towns last played for the Dominican Republic back on September 11th, 2013 in the AmeriCup. Although he was usually featured on the extended list of candidates in subsequent years, Towns never made another appearance representing his home country again.
The Dominican Republic will play in Group A together with Italy, Angola, and the Philippines.
