Despite officially leaving FC Barcelona and reportedly agreeing on a deal with Partizan Mozzart Bet Belgrade, EuroLeague star Nikola Mirotic won't be heading either to the black-and-white or red-and-white Belgrade side, the player announced on Instagram.

Mirotic informed he won't join Partizan due to insults and threats he received after news of his continuation in Zeljko Obradovic's team was published.

The 33-year-old wants to continue his career "in one of the European teams outside of Serbia."

Nikola Mirotic's full message:

"Dear All, I have devoted my whole life in searching for the truth and having a just attitude towards everyone and everything. It is a difficult road that requires commitment and dedication. Just as I have given a large part of my life to basketball trying to give my best and yet always playing as part of the team.

Indeed, basketball has become a part of my life, as a game, as a desire to constantly improve and overcome myself. That's how one affects the other, the development of basketball as a game and the development and growth of my personality. I want to continue that way. I want to play basketball, and I look forward to my game. I also want my family to share that joy.

However, different information regarding me and the continuation of my career has been coming out for weeks. Against my will and desire, and without my knowledge, and certainly, far from the truth, randomly written texts are being published. Some of them were imaginations and arbitrary conclusions of individuals and the media and all this caused a lot of attention, which my family and I did not want at all.

As certain information about the further continuation of my career in BC 'Partizan' reached the public, threats and insults began which surprised and hurt me a lot, because I don't want to be a person who will divide people on any basis, let alone on the colors of the club. I have decided not to be part of such an atmosphere and that I do not want to expose myself or my family to further inconveniences.

To be honest, I must mention that not a single threat came from the KK 'Crvena Zvezda' and that I always have good and respectful communication with them. Also, I would like to mention that I disregard the financial aspect as well as preferences for a particular club, since I wanted to play in country that I love so much, but things just went in the wrong direction.

I would like to thank BC 'Partizan' for the trust and desire to be part of their team, but I made the decision that it is best for my family and me to continue my career in one of the European teams outside of Serbia."
