Now, the former head coach of the club who spent more than a decade there - Dusko Vujosevic - reacted to Mirotic's decision.
In an interview with MaxBet Sport, the 64-year-old specialist offered his honest opinion.
"What did the person threatening him say?" He said about Mirotic's claim that the threats he received after news about his agreement with Partizan were the main reason behind his decision.
Mirotic said that Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet Belgrade as an organization did not influence the decision in any way. "They are not from Zvezda? Surely these are from OKK Belgrade then," Vujosevic joked about the threats.
Partizan claimed that the player had already given his word to the club's president Ostoja Mijailovic, the general manager Zoran Savic, head coach Zeljko Obradovic, and even team captain Kevin Punter that he would sign with the club but he seemingly changed his mind.
Mirotic has been known as a philanthropist in the region, helping and funding numerous causes throughout multiple years both in his native Montenegro and Serbia. Vujosevic says that there should have been a serious cause behind the decision.
"I know that Mirotic is an extremely good man, a man of faith. He's helped [the region] in many ways. He extended his hand to the people from Partizan, probably not knowing what the situation was here. If I were him, I wouldn't go back on my word," the specialist told. "This situation is not good for the country, Serbia must be safe for everyone. I repeat, if I were in his place, I would keep my word. If someone wants to blackmail me, I would certainly do the opposite of what they are blackmailing me for."
