Timberwolves beat Thunder to reclaim No. 1 seed in West

The Minnesota Timberwolvesearned a 107-101 win against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Sundaynight in a battle amongst the best in the West.

Anthony Edwards scored 27 pointsin 40 minutes and Karl-Anthony Towns chipped in 21 points, 10rebounds and 6 assists to allow the Wolves to take sole position ofthe No. 1 seed in the West again.

Coming into the game, the Wolvesand Thunder were tied for first place in the Western Conference at32-14 followingdisappointing losses to the bottom-dwelling San Antonio Spurs andDetroit Pistons in their previous games.

The game was tightly contestedwith five lead changes and five ties throughout. ShaiGilgeous-Alexander, who led the Thunder in scoring with 37 pointsin yet another 30-point performance, sank two free throws to givehis team a 97-96 lead with 2:43 left.

However, his OKC teammate JalenWilliams suffered an ankle injury after stepping onto his foot.Williams hobbled back to the locker room and did not put anypressure on his right foot.

Minnesota took advantage of thison a Jaden McDaniels triple and then a thunderous Edwards slam totake back the lead and hold it until the end of thegame.

Defensive anchor Rudy Gobertadded 12 points and 17 boards for the Wolves, who moved to 33-14 onthe season.

As for the Thunder, they fall to33-15 after prized rookie Chet Holmgren struggled in the game,finishing with only 4 points on 2-of-9 shooting.
